Photos From September 25 Day of Prayer and Healing

Therse photos were submitted by Pam and Bob. Never mind that some of these photos were taken the day after the event. Some people just cannot bring themselves to go home when the rest of the group leaves. I guess it helps when you park your RV just outside the building :>)

Can you spot the orbs in each picture?

A Pilgrim's Story From September 25

On September 25, 1956, Mary first appeared to Sr. Mildred Nuezil in the large chapel at Sylvan Springs in Rome City, Indiana. Being there on the anniversary of this first apparition, we knew would prove to be miraculous. Each and every time we go there, Mary confirms to us that she is present and that she wants to lead us to her Son, Jesus. Through the selfless volunteers that readily prepare for large groups, to the speakers that also do so any time that they are asked, each pilgrim is left with a special gift from Our Lady. This day would not be an exception.

Our day was to consist of a tour at noon, John Thomas speaking at 2pm, Irv Kloska speaking and praying over people at 4 pm, followed by the regularly scheduled Friday night rosary at 6:30 pm. Hearing the stories directly from Larry is always inspiring, but we heard he would not be able to make it that day.

As the tour made it's way into the large chapel, we decided to have John present his talk on his conversion before heading upstairs. During his inspirational talk I noticed that there were many people there for the first time. After his talk we continued the tour and were led upstairs to the weeping room. While on the tour, it is always interesting to chat with the other pilgrims as each person's story for how they arrived at the springs is unique. I had spoken with a small group from Ohio. One man, who was garbed in Ohio State fanfare, complete with a "Buckeye" rosary shared the story of his re-conversion to the Catholic faith.

As we made our way upstairs, I asked a young man who appeared to be on his own, if he too was from Ohio. He said that he was from Texas and had driven to Rome City earlier in the week. So, my next questions were, "By yourself?" "What led you to come here?" and "Why?" Yes, he came by himself. He said that he was a recent convert and that he had no support from his family or friends, but he wanted to be there for the anniversary of the first apparition. He had read about Rome City on the website (www.oltiv.org). I stood there dumbfounded, thinking of the many times that I've taken my faith for granted. Yet here stands this 23 year old young man, so in love with his faith, that he would drive across the country to be there. What an example for our youth! What an example for all of us!

Also on the tour was another very special young man whose father flew him from Boston to Michigan so that he could make the trip to Rome City with us. Robert is a very special person for many reasons, least of which being his autism. Seeing Sylvan Springs through his eyes, being with him there on that day,is the biggest highlight for me personally that I have experienced. Robert is also a young man that loves and lives his faith on a daily basis. He radiates the love of Jesus for us. There is something contained within him that I want to strive to tap into on a daily basis. On the drive home I asked Robert what happened when Uncle Irv prayed over him. His response was that he saw the face of Jesus. My first thought was, "What a wonderful gift for someone who constantly shows us the love of Christ through his actions."

After seeing the weeping room, where oil continues to stream down the walls for no apparent reason, we headed to Holy Family Hill. I always love going up there, for the peacefulness found there is incredible. We then headed back to the large chapel to hear Irv's talk. He shared with us some of the many miracles that have happened at Syvan Springs and talked about the true presence of Christ in the Eucharist. He also shared with us that his brother, Frank, was healed of a bulging disk 3 weeks earlier. Frank had left Sylvan Springs with a gallon of water. On Monday he drank a glass. On Tuesday he drank a glass. That day, the bulging disk had disappeared along with his pain. (Unable to come to the springs on the 25th, he had called me and asked that I get him more of the healing water. He then drove 70 miles the next day to pick up the water at my house. He told me his story again with tears in his eyes, repeating over and over again that it was a miracle.) During this talk, Irv made a statement and then said, "Right Larry?" All eyes turned to the back of the chapel to see Larry walking up the isle. He decided to come to the Springs to give us a first hand account of what happened that day and what was in the plans to save this property, this Holy ground.

He told us of a Sister Mary Jane that pulled some strings somehow and got him a spot, taking Fr. Corapi's place on a radio talk show on Tuesday, September 29. She also arranged for Fr. Link to be on EWTN's television show with Raymond Arroyo on October 16th. It is amazing to see how God works. By trusting in Him to provide our faith grows ever stronger. Larry's example to everyone is a true testimony of faith. We are not to give into the world, but to stay close to Him and he will provide for all of our needs.

So, thank you, Larry for your example of extreme faith. Thank you to all who continue to visit the springs. Thank you to all of the people that return to the springs bringing other family members and friends in tow. Thank you, Mary, for your many rewards to us for coming to visit you. We love you.

Happy Anniversary Our Lady of America

If you have been paying attention, you will know that Saturday, September 26 was the 53rd Anniversary of the First Official Apparition of Our Lady of America which took place in The Our Lady Mother of Mercy Chapel on the grounds of Sylvan Springs in Rome City, IN.

To celebrate the event, pilgrims gathered from Texas, Missouri, Massachusetts, Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, and Kentucky for a day of healing prayer and special guest speakers. The day culminated in The Friday Night Rosary which was held in the main chaapel due to the large number in attendance.

During the healing service, orbs could be seen across the ceiling as the healing presence of The Holy Spirit filled the chapel.

It was a very special day for all who came.

The next day of prayer and healing is tentatively scheduled for October 13, the Anniversary of Our Lady of America's request that a statue of Her likeness be enthroned in The National Basilica in Washington, DC. Please plan to attend this special event in support of Our Lady of America's request.

Jim Pouillon Memorial Service

Last Wednesday I drove over to Owosso to pay my respects to Jim Pouillon. While some thought his method was extreme, so is the cause he was fighting for. What our country has come to in the name of selfishness is beyond my comprehension. While in the bible children are referred to as "gift from God" our new society views them as "punishment" for a bad choice (President Obama). We, as Americans, are limiting the size of our family so that we can have that new SUV, visit that new vacation spot and to fulfill our own desires. Our priorities are completely out of sync with the gifts that God freely gives us.

Jim Pouillon, in the face of repeated abuse, had a message. He had a calling and he fulfilled it. He went against what the world sees as "normal." He was a radical. He was killed because he was hated, though he had done nothing wrong. Sound familiar?

Jim's memorial was just like him......peaceful, spiritual and it left those of us there with the desire to go out and make a difference in the world. Though this time, there were no signs, there were no protesters. His children and grandchildren were there to celebrate his wonderful life. Christian songs were sung. His pastor gave the eulogy. Jim was honored with full military honors.

Jim may be gone, but his message will live on. We need to carry the torch the best we can in our own lives. We need to find a way to make our voices heard. We need to listen to God's still voice and answer his call. It is a simple.

May God bless the Pouillon family. Your father was a hero and a martyr.

Christ's Peace,

Patti Pope

The Time Is Now

This letter was submitted by one of the regular Rome City pilgrimage organizers. Through her work and the power of the Holy Spirit, countlesss numbers of lives have been changed by simply making a one-day pilgrimage to the birthplace of Our Lady of America.

Over the past two years I have been bringing groups of people to Sylvan Springs. Each and every person that came left with a gift. Some were blessed with orbs in their pictures, some received spiritual healing and some were even healed physically. All who were able to have returned multiple times, bringing along family members and friends. Sylvan Springs is holy ground. There is no doubt about it. The miracles that I received there include many orbs in my photos including one the shape of a fetus as a direct result of a prayer....miracle. Mother Mary also appeared in one of my pictures.......miracle. It was she that requested me to bring her children to her. I have done so without reservation and without hesitation. There is an undeniable presence that is felt there by everyone. I believe it is a little taste of what it feels like to be in heaven. No matter what you are going through in your own life, while you are at Sylvan Springs, you feel peace.

The owner of the property purchased it in the year 2000, with hopes of making it into a sports camp for kids. Mary quickly showed him that that plan was not to be. There was another purpose. Through the years it has been a struggle to keep the doors open and the heat on, yet Larry has done so without reservation and without hesitation. Because of his determination, many, many people have had their lives changed drastically. Because of his faith, many have come to know God in a deeper way. While donations have been accepted to help defray the cost of utilities, no money has ever been accepted for access to the building, tours and lectures. There is no monetary profit to be gained.

We are holding to great hope that Mary will help preserve this place and that someone or a group of people will come forward with monetary assistance. There is so much to be lost if the doors of this holy place are closed. There is so much to be gained if it is preserved. The loss and gain is spiritual, eternal, everlasting. If you have the means or know someone who does, please make it known to them that the time is now. I ask that you prayerfully consider being a part of preserving the grounds of Sylvan Springs. Please follow God's call without reservation and without hesitation. If you feel led to help, please contact the moderator of this blog.

We will be having a day of prayer and healing on Friday, September 25 beginning at 12 Noon which will run through the regular Friday Night Rosary which normally begins at 6:30 pm. PLEASE JOIN US ON THIS SPECIAL 53RD ANNIVERSARY DATE OF THE BEGINNING OF OUR LADY OF AMERICA'S APPEARANCES.

Thank you,

Patti

Slain Pro-Life Advocate Jim Pouillon Known as the Peaceful Abortion Sign Guy

by Steven Ertelt
LifeNews.com Editor
September 11, 2009

Owosso, MI (LifeNews.com) -- Jim Pouillon was known as the sign guy by resident of this otherwise sleepy local community 45 minutes northeast of Lansing, Michigan. But Pouillon was shot Friday morning as he did what he did best -- hold his pro-life sign outside of a local high school letting students and teaching know some of their peers are missing.

Cal Zastrow, a longtime pro-life advocate in Michigan knew Pouillon well, calling him a "close friend" and said he "got his martyr's crown this morning" after suffering multiple gunshots and claimed his life.

"I talked to him on the phone this week and prayed with him before he went out to Owosso High School to minister," he said.

While Pouillon was active in protesting abortion -- and his death will bring up the issue of abortion and violence again in the wake of the shooting of late-term abortion practitioner George Tiller -- he always condemned violence as a solution to the violence of abortion.

"Jim was completely non-violent and he condemned violence," Zastrow said.

Judy Climer, president of Flint Right to Life, described Pouillon to the Flint Journal newspaper as "just a nice, elderly gentleman who was disabled, used an oxygen tank and wore leg braces."

Climber said he would regularly visit abortion businesses in Flint and Saginaw to pray and hold pro-life signs.

"I knew him very well. He told me one time God put in his heart a passion for the little babies that have the right to be born and they were being denied that right," said Climer. "He even told me once he'd be willing to die for that belief. That's what I hear him saying right now."

Pouillon was involved in a pro-life free speech case several years ago that saw him sue local police after he was arrested for “refusing a lawful police order” to move from city hall steps and for “obstructing passage to a public building."

His attorneys filed a lawsuit on his behalf saying police violated his rights to freedom of speech, religion, and assembly.

The United States District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan, under presiding Judge Anna Diggs Taylor, denied his motion for summary judgment and, after a jury found against him, his renewed motion for judgment.

Pouillon appealed the decision and an appeals court held that the steps of the city hall were a public place and Pouillon was within his First Amendment rights to protest abortion there.

The court eventually upheld a portion of the decision and overturned parts of it.

Steven H. Aden, the senior legal counsel for the Alliance Defense Fund, represented Pouillon in the case.

“Jim Pouillon was a courageous friend of both unborn children and the First Amendment right to speak up on their behalf, and he will be sorely missed," Aden told LifeNews.com today.

"I hope his loss, and his example, will inspire many others – particularly young people – to take up the cross he bore and defend the right of all of God’s children to live, and to live in peace," he said.

In the legal documents in the case, his attorneys described Pouillon this way: "James Pouillon is a dedicated anti-abortion protester whose non-working life is largely devoted to activism in that cause."

"He was a familiar figure on the streets of Owosso, where he staged abortion protests for a portion of each day almost every weekday for over ten years," they said.

"On the date he was arrested, he had decided to move his protest from his customary post on the sidewalk to a position on a small plaza separating upper and lower short flights of steps to city hall, or on the steps themselves," they added.

"On the sidewalk, he had often been the target of verbal abuse as well as assorted missiles, and had once been almost run down by a motorist who swerved onto the sidewalk and drove straight at him," they concluded.

More Photos From August 30 by Father Nguyen

This is how the statue of Our Lady of Lourdes usually looks in The Our Lady Mother of Mercy Chapel. This is the site of the appearances of Our Lady of America in 1956.

This is how the same statue looked when Father Joseph Nguyen Photographed it after the healing service last Sunday, August 30.

When Father Joseph looked at it, he was amazed. So, he naturally took another photo and this is what he got.
