No Room At The Inn?
I was invited to a local Baptist Church this past weekend for one of those extravagant Christmas pageants with all the choirs, costumes, props, and animals for the Nativity scene. It was quite a production...it was actually broadcast all over the world on their member satellite network.

During the scene where Joseph and Mary were arriving in Bethlehem and seeking lodging, it occurred to me that perhaps the reason there was "no room at the inn" was because of Mary's obvious condition and the possibility that none of the innkeepers wanted to have the responsibility of dealing with the needs of this couple who would have created quite a distraction to their other guests. I would presume that young Mother Mary, not having the luxury of an epidural, probably let out some primal screams while giving birth and this would have not gone over too well with some of the other guests who may have been trying to rest or wanted to party into the evening.
That got me to thinking: "What would I have done if I were the innkeeper?" Would I have gone out of my way to assist this couple or would I have told them to "Try the guy down the street" as they were probably told many times.
Have things changed that much in 2000 years? Recently, we all could see a video of a man being struck by a car and nearby pedestrians did absolutely nothing to render aid. They seemed indifferent to this other person as he lay in the street. "It's none of my business" is what they said to themselves and they moved on. "Let somebody else help."
We have to change this way of thinking if we are to save our country and our world. We need to expect more from ourselves and each other. Jesus certainly does.
Try not to let Him down.
Please find room at your inn and help us do what needs to be done.
